  i read with great interest the evil spirits thread, amazed at the ignorance on this forum concerning the occult.. if you do not believe in the spirit world, you are certainly akin to toothless hillbillies.

  good for moonshine making, cousin marrying and not much else.. both the usa and the russians continue to pursue the occult, following in the foorsteps of nazi germany.

  they are not ignorant people, such as yourselves.. hopefully, you non-believers will slowly breed yourselves out of the population, since you are the ones holding back progress, with your precious "science" which is really bullshit in disguise.. so tell me, what separates you "intellectuals" from those so called ancient ignorants?

  They are not the only religion to teach, this was borrowed by catholics, but you are making the mistake that many do, attaching a religions element to the spirits of these odd occurences.   Many try (to give credit that their religion is true) by exorcism, crosses and holy water, from my experience none of these work, one person told me that I rejected holy spirit by being a jw but there still is no proof.

  Closing down of all non-native congregations in The Netherlands

  this weekend serious sources told me that in the netherlands the society is closing down all non-native congregations.

  because of the mixed population of this country, there are >100 non-native congregations like english, france, dutch-caribian, arab, chinese, italian, russian, spanish etc.. my source was backing the dissision of the society because "these non-native congregations are islands on their own, with group-thinking and not allways listening to the society..." and concluded "these non-natives has to learn dutch instead of we are learning their language".. strange: some years ago many jw's learned a foreign language (like arab or chinese!

  I never got a definite reason why but a ex-member of one of the Potugesse congs said their was infighting between elder bodies.

  I can attest to that and provide further information, during the late 70's Portuguese migration to Australia was high and slowly decrease, I recall that during field service (1996- onwards) many I spoke to could speak english and others at least some english,some (50+) couldn't, during my time at the bankstown portuguese congregation many moved to closer local english or spanish congregations, this should give you an idea why they became smaller and closed.

  I think the first to go was Melbourne, Adelaide never had a portuguese cong (would be too small, they all went to the spanish), Perth never had one, the sydney cong (bankstown) close because of personality clashes between elders, one elder was mocked publicly during a talk another elder was giving lol, I also believe it was because the cong was not growing for a while now, and they all had their little group of friends so bethel closed bankstown, wollongong's (there were two port congs part of sydney NSW) was impacted on this decision and closed as well, some were elderly that couldn't speak english.

  This is not to say that some were disfellowship, some stop coming, young ones lost interest as they became older, but it was not the reason why they closed.

  Already reminded of the memorial twice this month

  so the elder who previously conducted my book study reminded me this month during a visit (during field service hours, how nice on them always thinking about me so they can put time on their sheets.

  he is the type of elder who does not study too deep and takes everything the faithfull and discreet slave says at face value, he told me that the bible alone can be used to calculate 607bce, pointing out to him that neither 607 or 582 can be concluded with the bible would be pointless, he gave me the two volume insight into the scriptures that said little about 607bce.

  he might be an ex-catholic but he has all the dogmatic qualities a practicing catholic has.

  So the elder who previously conducted my book study reminded me this month during a visit (during field service hours, how nice on them always thinking about me so they can put time on their sheets), he gives me the usual, that the end is close and that he would like to see me at the meetings and asked if I will be coming this which I replied "probably not", but then he went on saying that I "must at least come to the memorial", considering I am living under my jw parents roof I decided to agree with what ever he said rather then asking him were in the bible does it say that the memorial is done once a year and has to be on the exact date? and where does it say that jesus asks all of (if it was literally written for us) us to partake this symbolic gesture every year, and 144,000, rejecting jesus sacrifice, etc.

During one of my last book studies with him I raised the issue that we are all gods children as pointed out in romans, trying not to sound too obvious that there are not two classes, but he couldn't put 2 and 2 together, told me that romans are for the 144,000 only and gave me the what the hell is wrong with you look. He will be changing congragations so I guess I wont be seeing him again and his conditional christian love, I swear when ever he visits me I have never see him without a tie, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that despite what he thinks are good intentions is nothing short from a meaningless approach.

  Then mum, the following day said something along the lines that when I go to the memorial at least it wont feel weird because I will have someone to talk to, my patience is running thin. Another "brother" around my age who keeps with minimal contact, at times calls me to see how him going during his preaching (once when I asked him what he was doing he told me he was at field service), or its visiting me during field service hours. Last phone call I asked if he wanted to hang out/watch a movie or something, he was not expecting that (i dont know, isn't that what normal people do? lol), made some excuse and didn't really give me an answer, he never shown'd up, he's another individual that I have never seen without a tie. Oh, and I never was baptised or disfellowshiped.
